Charcoal
A rewarding medium as it’s so fast to use. Using the side of the charcoal gives broad, painterly marks which can be smudged with rags or fingers; more pressure produces velvety darks instantly. Highlights can be drawn in with an eraser, delicate layers and textures can be built up more slowly. Great for finished pieces, as well as sketches.
